According to Detective Sgt. Dan Goodwin of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 6 p.m., deputies spotted a vehicle wanted in a carjacking in Shelbyville, Tenn.

After deputies spotted the vehicle occupied by two suspects, they called for backup.

A chase then ensued on Interstate 24, and reached speeds in excess of 100 mph.

The two murder suspects, Donnie Russell Rowe and Ricky Dubose, who shot and killed two Georgia corrections Officers, fired shots at two deputies during the chase. The deputies were not harmed.

Shortly after the chase began, the vehicle crashed in a wooded area near Murfreesboro, Tenn. (Rutherford County).

According to authorities, the suspects went through a wooded area, but were captured a short time later at a home they were attempting to break into.

The two suspects were taken into custody moments later. Authorities said that the two suspects were not harmed.

The inmates escaped during transport on June 13.

Putnam County Georgia Sheriff Howard Sills said that the inmates overpowered the two armed corrections officers, removed their Glock 9 mm handguns from their holsters, and then shot them.

Rowe and Dubose then carjacked a passerby. They later “ditched” that car and stole a pickup truck.

According to Sills, the killers were captured in Rutherford County, which is approximately 250 miles from Madison, Georgia, where they had stolen the pickup truck. The two later “ditched” the truck in Moore County and stole a car. Sills said they then drove that car to a home in Bedford County, broke into the home, robbed an elderly couple, and stole their car.

Sills said that the cage on the bus must have been unlocked in order for the inmates to gain access to the corrections officers.

Sills described the two felons as “pure evil”.

“They do not have any respect for human life,” said Sills.

    This is a developing story.

    Avisus Sedale Davis

Major Crimes detectives with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrested Avisus Sedale Davis, 28, Tuesday for raping a 13-year-old girl in January of 2016.

Detectives said that Davis also impregnated the girl.

According to reports, the girl did not report the rape until after she gave birth.

DNA evidence proves that Davis is the father of the child.

The juvenile stated that she met Davis through a family member. She said while at his house, she had asked to use the bathroom. The teen said that when she was finished in the bathroom, Davis forced himself on her and raped her.

Davis told the teen that if she told anyone about the rape, he would “shoot her house up”.

Davis was charged with Sexual Assault of Victim Under 18 Years Old, Cruelty Toward Child- Impregnate Child Under 16, and Possession of Marijuana. Additionally, Davis was charged with two probation violations for  Burglary and Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement.

Davis is currently being held in the Marion County Jail without bond.

Davis may have had contact with other minors.

Corrupt deputy arrested for second time

    Timothy James

A Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested Saturday after he beat a handcuffed teenager who was sitting in the back of his patrol car.

Deputy Timothy James said he struck 17-year-old Elias Campos because [he] spit on him. It was later determined that James lost his temper because the boy did not have his social security number memorized.

According to reports, another deputy had to pull James off the boy.

Campos had to be transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

James was charged with Battery and booked into the Duval County jail.

The JSO said that Campos was allegedly wanted for a burglary out of Orlando. Campos does not have any previous arrests.

Deputy James was also arrested in April after he was caught on camera tackling and then striking a man at a hospital, who again, James claimed had spit on him. However, the State Attorney’s Office said that in the video it was James who actually spit on the 21-year-old. A deputy at the scene who defended James’ actions turned out to be James’ wife, who also works for the JSO.

Witnesses at the scene said that James was “clearly trying to provoke a response out the man”.

Since the last incident, fellow officers have come forward and described James as “very aggressive”. Some have suggested steroid use by the stout deputy.

In May, James was investigated after he struck and killed a pedestrian on University Boulevard while responding to a burglary.

James told investigators that the man “jumped” in front of his car while “running code”. Investigators never filed charges against James. Instead, they ruled 62-year-old Blane Land’s death “suicide by cop”. Land’s family says no way. They are still looking for answers.

Since Mike Williams became the sheriff in July 2015, more than 30 officers have been suspended and 50 more have resigned. James is the 18th law enforcement officer to be arrested in Jacksonville.

Sheriff Williams, along with Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood, and Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey are just a few sheriffs who have spoken out against police corruption. All of the aforementioned sheriffs have been widely praised for their transparency when it comes to officers who have been arrested. They also believe that body cameras should be mandatory in the state.

As for James, he has been stripped of his arrest powers while he is under investigation by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office.

Donnie Russell Rowe, and Ricky Dubose

Georgia — The search is on for two Georgia Department of Correction convicts who killed two corrections officers and escaped custody.

According to a press release, Donnie Russell Rowe, and Ricky Dubose, who has elaborate tattoos on his face and neck, were last seen getting into a green four-door 2004 Honda Civic, which they stole from a passerby.

The Georgia license plate number is RBJ-6601.

Putnam County Georgia Sheriff Howard Sills said that the inmates might have “ditched” the car by now and obtained another means of transportation.

    The inmates escaped during transport.

Sills said that the inmates overpowered the two armed corrections officers, removed their Glock 9 mm handguns from their holsters, and then shot them.

Sills said that there will be a thorough investigation as to how the inmates were able to unlock the cage on the bus and get to the guards.

The two guards were later identified as Christopher Monica and Curtis Billue.

According to Sills, Rowe was serving a life sentence and Dubose was serving a 20 year sentence which he had just started on 2015.

In an email, Sills said, “I am afraid they might kill someone else.” He said the two inmates have zero respect for human life.

The inmates were last seem traveling west on state Highway 16 toward Eatonton. They are considered armed and dangerous. If you see them, call 911.

Sills said the two convicts have a head start and could be anywhere by now.

There is a $60,000 reward being offered for their capture.

Man, serious condition, slammed into concrete utility pole

On June 13, at approximately 12:50 a.m., Marion County Fire Rescue Tech Rescue responded to a crash near the intersection of Southwest 95th Street Road and Southwest 60th Avenue, Ocala.

According to reports, the 911 caller reported that a vehicle had slammed into a concrete utility pole and was possibly on fire.

MCFR Rescue #55 and Squad #21 arrived on scene at 12:58 a.m. to find that a gray 2005 Buick Rainer had struck a concrete utility pole and snapped it in half. The SUV was not on fire.

The driver, Justin Griffis, 31, was trapped inside the SUV.

Firefighters worked quickly to cut the vehicle away in order to be able to extricate the driver. Firefighters were able to pull the driver from the vehicle at approximately 1:51 a.m. Griffis was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Griffis was traveling southbound on Southwest 60th Avenue, and as he traveled through the intersection of Southwest 95th Street, he exited the road and slammed into the concrete utility pole.

The utility pole snapped in half, which caused the traffic signal lines to fall across the roadway and block the intersection.

FHP said that drivers should use caution until the traffic signals are repaired.

    Sinkhole forms following heavy rainfall

On June 10, 2017, Ocala Fire Rescue responded to Checkers, located at 2701 SW College Road, after torrential rain caused a massive sinkhole that “swallowed” a car.

Both occupants of the vehicle, who were elderly, were able to escape the car before it was claimed by the sinkhole.

State Road 200 was closed between Southwest 27th Avenue and Southwest 26th Street for several hours.

OFR officials said that a gas line ruptured as a result of the 25 foot wide sinkhole. The gas line has since been repaired.

Drivers in the area are urged to use caution.

Ocala, Florida — Ocala police arrested a 14-year-old boy who they say shot and injured two other teens.

Police said Jerquan T. Green shot the teen because they used [his] handshake.

    Timeline

On May 30, 2017, the Ocala Police Department received a call about a shooting in Deer Run, located at 2804 Northeast 4th Court.

When police arrived, they found two teens who had been shot a total of five times. Both victims had been shot in their legs.

While canvassing the area, police found 13 spent shell casings — (10) .40 caliber casings and three 9 mm casings.

The victims were transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center where they were questioned by an OPD detective. The victims told the detective that a silver Nissan had driven through the complex when individuals inside the car began shooting. The teens were unable to provide further information at that time.

According to reports, later the same day OPD responded to Berkley Point Apartments, located at 2867 Northeast 7th Street, in regards to another shooting.

Witnesses said that a car occupied by four black males drove through the complex, and that the occupants of that vehicle opened fire on a person who was standing outside. A 26-year-old man was transported to a local hospital and treated for his injuries.

On May 31, an OPD detective went back to Berkley Point Apartments and located a silver Nissan that matched the description given by witnesses from both shootings.

Upon searching the vehicle, the detective found a spent .40 caliber shell casing. The Nissan was then towed to OPD for further investigation.

On June 7, a witness went to OPD and met with detectives about the Deer Run shooting. The witness stated that on the day of the shooting, Green saw two boys doing a handshake which Green does.

The witness said that Green became angry and shouted out “f*ck n*gga” and began shooting out of the vehicle.

Detectives were also able to determine that Green is a known member of the “MK” or “Mway” gang.

Green was arrested and charged with Attempted 2ncd Degree Murder with a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm by a Delinquent Felon.

Officials said that because the offenses are gang related, the penalties will be enhanced.

Green has a previous conviction for Burglary of a Dwelling on July 8, 2014.

Detectives are searching for the other occupants of the vehicle.

Ocala Post was not able to obtain Green’s booking photo by the time this article was published.

Ocala, Florida — A teen who was pulled over Monday for a minor offense ended up with two felony charges.

According to Ocala police, they stopped Christian Patrick Parker, 18, in the 3100 block of Southwest College Road for an expired temporary tag.

Police said when they approached the vehicle Parker was acting “abnormally nervous”.

The officer then called for a K-9 unit to conduct an exterior sniff of the vehicle.

K-9 “Brinson” walked around the vehicle and alerted on the front passenger door.

Police said that as K-9 “Brinson” was being returned to a patrol car, Parker was asked to exit his vehicle. Once outside the vehicle, an officer quickly realized that Parker was armed and shouted “gun”. The K-9 officer then returned to assist.

When the mother, Sofia MacFarland, exited Wal-Mart, she told police that she had not planned to be inside the store that long. She had taken her 6-month old in the store with her.

MacFarland told police she left the keys in the ignition and the car running so the child would not overheat. She said she did it because her son was sleepy.

MacFarland was arrested and charged with Leaving an Unattended Child in a Running Vehicle.

MacFarland has previous arrests for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Narcotic Equipment), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Revoked License, Violation of Probation, and Introducing Contraband into a Detention Facility.

She was released on a $500.00 bond.

The children were released into the custody of a family member.

The Department of Children and Families was notified by OPD.
