Ocklawaha, Florida — Deputy Mitchell with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to Gator Joe’s in reference to a disturbance.
Upon arrival, the deputy found Julia Heisey, 23, lying in the entrance of Gator Joe’s. The establishment was open for business at the time.
According to witnesses, Heisey walked into Gator Joe’s, picked up a magazine rack and threw it across the room. Heisey then began screaming obscenities and scaring patrons.
A witness said that Heisey became violent and began to throw punches at the staff.
According to reports, at the time of the incident there were approximately 50 customers in Gator Joe’s, many with children.
Deputy Mitchell noted that upon making contact with Heisey she became extremely irate and started to scream and yell.
Reports stated that, when the deputy tried to arrest Heisey she pulled her arm away from the deputy and tightened up her muscles in an attempt to keep from being handcuffed.
Once the deputy was able to control Heisey and place her in cuffs, she was escorted to a patrol vehicle. According to reports, as Heisey was being placed into the backseat, she then kicked the deputy in the chest with her right foot.
Heisey was finally placed into the patrol vehicle and transported to the Marion County Jail.
She was charged with Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Breach of the Peace.
