Marion County, Florida — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office needs your help to put a violent criminal behind bars.

On October 1, 2013, Deputy Mitchell Tucker responded to call involving a battery.

The deputy met with the victim at 4730 NW 156th Place, who advised him that 10 minutes prior to the deputies arrival a man whom she knew to be called “Bubba” forcefully entered her home and battered her.

According to the deputy, the victim stated that she heard several knocks on her doors and windows, which woke her from her sleep. She said that when she went to the door and asked who it was, there was no reply. She then cracked the door open to see who it was and asked Bubba what he wanted.

Bubba said to her, “You know what I want; I want that [expletive].

The victim told Bubba to leave and said, “I’m not down with that,” and attempted to close the door.

That’s when Bubba shoved his way into the residence and punched her in the stomach. She punched Bubba back but then he grabbed her by her shirt and they stumbled out the front door onto the porch.

Once on the porch they lost their balance and fell through the railing and landed in the front yard. The victim then saw a man step out of the driver side of a blue Crown Victoria and say, “Come on bro, let’s go.” Bubba then ran to the vehicle and the two men fled the scene. The victim recognized the driver to be Charon Perry, according to deputies.

The daughter of the victim told deputies that she was in her room sleeping when she heard her mother screaming and woke up. She advised that she ran into the living room and saw Bubba grab her mother and pull her outside, at which time they fell through the guard rails of the porch, landing in the front yard.

Deputy Michelle Wright arrived on the scene shortly after the two landed in the front yard. Deputy Wright then obtained a brief description as well as the nickname of the man. Deputy Wright was able to produce a picture of the suspect and the victim positively identified him as 30-year-old Kevin D. Patterson of Reddick.

The victim did not need medical attention.

Patterson is still on the run and authorities need the public’s assistance to apprehend him. Patterson stands about 6’ 1’’, weighs approximately 160 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes.

If anyone has information regarding the whereabouts of Patterson you are urged to call Crime Stoppers of Marion County at 352-368-STOP or 352-368-7867. You could earn up to $1,000 for your information.
