Polk County, Florida — The search for a 19-year-old that went missing on January 1, 2013 came to a tragic end today.
Kodi Lee Matthews’ body was found at 4:57 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2013. His body was located in a wooded area of Fish Hatchery Road in Lakeland, the same area in which he was last seen.
Matthews’ family reported him missing after they tried contacting him several times but failed to reach him. Matthews’ family feared something was wrong, they say it was unlike Matthews not to return calls or check in with his family.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing and endangered person.
The investigation is ongoing and an autopsy will performed to determine the manner and cause of death.
