Multi-vehicle crash on I-75 crash leaves one seriously injured

At approximately 3:30 p.m., crews from Alachua County and High Springs Fire Rescue responded to I-75 southbound at Mile Marker 396 in regards to a multiple-vehicle accident with entrapment.

According to FHP, one person was seriously injured. Several others suffered minor injuries.

The accident happened when a 43-year-old Orlando man driving a 2019 Chevrolet 3500 southbound on I-75, in the center lane attempted to pass a Suburban pulling a trailer with a car loaded on it.

The 3500 clipped the car trailer and both traveled in a westerly direction until the pickup struck a 2016 Volvo semi-truck. The semi was disabled on the side of the road and being worked on by a mechanic.

The driver of the pickup truck and his passenger, a 40-year-old man, received minor injuries.

The suburban, driven by a 27-year-old man and two passengers, a 21-year-old woman and her 1-year-old baby, received minor injuries. The fourth passenger in the SUV, a 40-year-old woman, was seriously injured.
