Marion County Fire Rescue mourns death of Firefighter/EMT

8

It is with my deepest regret that I announce the death of Firefighter/EMT Emilio Rivera.

Firefighter Rivera, a proud United States Marine Corps veteran, and firefighter for over five years, was loved and respected by all. His drive, determination, and work ethic inspired all who he came into contact with. He was assigned to Friendship Fire Station #21, Operations Station #33, and most recently the Villages of Marion Station #10.

During our mourning period, let us support one another. Please reach out to someone you feel comfortable with if you need to talk. We have a great asset with Chaplin Joe LaCognata. Please utilize him as he is available 24/7. Your department’s senior staff is here to support you as well. We will get through this trying time together.

Effective immediately, U.S. flags at all county buildings will be flown at half-mast. Flags are to remain at half-mast until sundown on the day of interment.
