Britax Child Safety, Inc., in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and other regulatory authorities, has issued a recall of the chest clip on certain B-Safe 35, B-Safe 35 Elite and BOB B-Safe 35 infant car seat models manufactured between November 1, 2015 and May 31, 2017.

The recall includes nearly 300 thousand car seats.

The NHTSA  says that the tabs on the chest clips could break and present a choking hazard to an infant in the car seat, increasing the risk of injury or death.

The NHTSA stated,”Copies of all notices, bulletins, dealer notifications, and other communications that relate to this recall, including a copy of the final owner notification letter and any subsequent owner follow-up notification letter(s), are required to be submitted to this office no later than 5 days after they are originally sent (if they are sent to more than one manufacturer, distributor, dealer, or purchaser/owner).”

“The information in the report suggests that Britax may have been aware of this issue more than five business days before filing a report with NHTSA,” the report noted.

Under Federal law, NHTSA is to be notified of all safety defect and/or noncompliance decisions within five business days of a company becoming aware of a problem.

Car seats included in the recall are as follows:
