Marion County – Kiwanis Beach, located at 15380 Southeast 140th Avenue Road, Lake Weir, will be closed as of April 27, 2016.
The Marion County Department of Health announced Wednesday that the beach should be closed to the public due to high levels of bacteria.
The high concentration of bacteria was detected during recent monthly scheduled testing, therefore the Parks and Recreation Department made the decision to close the beach at the recommendation of the Department of Health.

The beach will be closed until further notice.
Officials said that, due to normal test results, Hampton Beach and Carney Island will remain open.
