SWAT surrounds home in Dove Hill Subdivision

Ocala, Florida — Marion County Sheriff’s Office SWAT, Crisis Negotiations team and Bomb Squad are in Dove Hill Subdivision in the 2800 block of NE 64th Lane in Ocala.

Early indications are a man committed a violent crime then barricaded himself inside a home and is refusing to come out.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says they are attempting negotiations in hopes the suspect will surrender peacefully.

Due to Dustin Heathman shooting at MCSO’s armored vehicle at the beginning of June – causing damaged to the windshield – SWAT is without an armored vehicle. Alachua County has brought over their armored vehicle and rook to assist the Marion County Sheriff’s Office if needed.

The suspects is considered to be armed.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the standoff ended at approximately 10:50 a.m. after SWAT placed the Bear Cat in front of the home where the suspect was barricaded. The suspect surrendered without any shots being fired.
