Florida — Two members of the Florida Highway Patrol surrendered to authorities Wednesday following an investigation that resulted in multiple felony charges, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

FHP Captain Lenita King turned herself in and was booked into the Osceola County Jail on four felony charges. Authorities say the charges include defrauding to obtain property, public servant falsifying official documents, falsifying public or court records, and grand theft involving property valued between $750 and $5,000.

Jail records show King was being held on a $30,000 bond.

Trooper Maurice Vilsaint also surrendered to authorities Wednesday. As of Wednesday evening, officials reported that Vilsaint had turned himself in but had not yet been formally booked into the jail system. Authorities have not yet released complete booking details regarding his charges.

Multiple news outlets reported that the arrests are connected to a major overtime fraud investigation involving Central Florida Highway Patrol personnel. Investigators have not yet publicly released the full details of the alleged scheme or disclosed how much money may have been involved.

The Florida Highway Patrol has not publicly commented on whether either trooper remains employed by the agency. News organizations reported making repeated requests for information regarding the troopers’ employment status but had not received responses as of Wednesday night.

The investigation remains active, and additional details are expected to be released as court records become available and investigators provide further information regarding the allegations.
