Citrus County — A Florida woman is behind bars after investigators say she tied a boy to a chair and attempted to suffocate him.

Merry Elizabeth Teller was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office and members of the US Marshall Task Force.

According to investigators, two cell phone videos provided by the boy’s mother, who previously lost custody of the child, show Teller abusing the boy.

In one video, Teller used duct tape to tightly secure the boy to a dining room chair. Investigators stated that you could tell in the video that the duct tape was so tight that the boy was in a tremendous amount of pain.

In a second video, Teller was scolding the child as he sat in a dining room chair. While yelling at the boy, Teller placed her hand over the boy’s nose and mouth and stated: “now breathe.” As the boy was gasping for air, he started to cry.

Teller is being held at the Citrus County Detention Facility on a $20,000 bond.

She was charged with two counts of Aggravated Child Abuse.
