Mariza Reulas could face jail time for selling food through Facebook group.

A single mother to six children could be facing jail time for selling her homemade food dishes through the Facebook group 209 Food Spot.

The mother, Mariza Reulas, who lives Stockton, California, was offered a plea deal of three years probation, but she refused.

According to court documents obtained by Fox40, the investigation into the Facebook group had been going on for a year.

On December 3, 2015, someone requested a plate of Reulas’ homemade ceviche. That person turned out to be a San Joaquin County undercover investigator.

Reulas, along with a dozen other women, were cited for selling an “illegal substance,” which was nothing more than homemade food.

“I don’t write the laws, I enforce them. And the legislature has felt that this is a crime,” said San Joaquin County Deputy District Attorney Kelly McDaniel.

McDaniel  told Fox40 that, “Selling any food not subject to health department inspection puts whoever eats it in real danger, not to mention it undercuts business owners who do get permits to make their food.”

Many of the women believe that it was area food vendors who called authorities.

We want to hear from you. Do you think the woman violated any laws, or did the government overstep?

Wrong, it’s called food inspectors and food regulations. She’s probably not paying taxes on her income and seeing how this is her living wage and she has 6 kids, she is definitely collecting government benefits while working under the table. So many food borne diseases out there. Is she keeping the food at the right temperatures. Is she washing her hands, washing her utensils, no cross-contaminating, does she have insurance in case she gets sued after getting someone sick. I respect the hustle and the idea of limited government regulation, but food is nothing to play with.

Here’s a woman trying to support herself doing what she knows best and everyone gets up in arms over it. Do you have nothing better to do? If you’re so concerned about the safety of her food, don’t buy it period! Live and Let Live..

She has a big family and children she has to feed! Every year it get wosrt and worst in the us to be able to support your family! What the us does not understand some of these women are single and cant work long hours to support there family and they try to make is extra money doing what they know best! some of these restaurants are disgusting and the health department doesn’t care i have been in restaurant kitchens myself and see how dirty it is! and these women are clean people and have there kitchens more clean then them nasty restaurants! My husband works in a restaurant that is disgusting and if it wasn’t for my husband people would be eating spoiled food and the owner doesn’t care! He takes the time everyday to cut up fresh foods and veggies! Go after those resturants and go in without letting them know and youll be surprised how nasty it is and half these people do not even put gloves on to get your food together nor wash there hands when its rush hours its disgusting!!!!!!!!
