Five newborn puppies stolen from Ocala home

Ocala, Florida — Five pit bull puppies that were stolen from an Ocala home and away from their mom last week, are still missing.

On May 21, 2014, Matthew Layfield and Ashley Ann left their home at approximately 1:30 p.m. When they returned at approximately 4:30 p.m., they found their home had been burglarized. The incident occurred in the 5700 block of SE 2nd Street, Ocala.

Thieves stole a Vizio flat-screen TV and five – two week old – pit bull puppies. The puppies are UKC registered and are valued at $6,000 ($1,200 each). The registration papers were also taken.

The suspect(s) may be someone that had recently expressed interest in the puppies.

A reward is being offered for the safe return of the newborn pups.
